Girls' Brigade
The Girls' Brigade is a Christian uniformed organisation
providing activities to help girls attain educational, physical, mental and
spiritual maturity, with the motto:
"Seek, Serve and Follow Christ"
The 10th Edinburgh Girls' Brigade company meets on Tuesday
evenings during term time in the Church Hall.
Explorers (P1 - P3) from 6.00 pm to 7.15 pm
Juniors (P4 - P7) from 6.00 pm to 7.15 pm Brigaders (S1 - S6) from
6.00 pm onwards
Girls meet together each week as a group to work through a
programme of activities suited to their age and ability.
The Explorers explore spiritual, physical, educational and service
aspects of a theme. The main emphasis is on fun and enjoyment as they learn to
work and play together.
The other sections meet at the same time so that they can share
common elements of the programme, such as games, crafts, devotions, etc. The
rest of the evening is spent following a syllabus of spiritual, physical,
educational and service subjects.
Girls in S3 and over are offered an additional programme of
leadership training as and when appropriate, and have the opportunity to
participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
From time to time, special events and competitions are organised
for the companies in Edinburgh Division or in Scotland.
Extra curricula company activities include outings and GB camp.
