Ark Trust
The Ark Trust is a Resource
Centre for those who are homeless, which seeks to work with individuals as they
address the issues that surround their lives.
It offers a 'one-door' approach, allowing homeless people to
access advice and information about a variety of issues - housing, DSS, health,
employment, police etc.
You can do your bit to help the homeless. Buy Ark Trust vouchers
to give to homeless people. They in turn can pass them one on to a homeless
person, which allows the recipient to use the voucher to purchase food and
clothing at The Ark.
The Ark cafe opens from 0630 - 1200 and provides hot, inexpensive
food for those who are homeless or caught in the poverty trap. It is managed by
a Cafe Development Worker who works with around 50-60 volunteers a week serving
clients.
The cafe is usually the first point of contact that homeless
people have with the centre. From there they can access Project Workers who can
support and assist with the many issues that homeless people are facing.
