Church History
The origins of
the Congregation can be traced back to 1826 when a number of inhabitants of the
village met to form a new Congregation, part of the United Associate Synod or
United Secession.
Worship has taken place in the present church building since 1884.
The Congregation belonged successively to the United Presbyterian Church, then
the United Free Church before adhering to the Union with the Church of Scotland
in 1929.
The Congregation, like the village, has grown in that time from
the original 100 members to a current roll of approximately 884 with 91.3%
living within the Parish.
